Everybody gets a 1600px version of this panel, even if you're not a Tool.

Because you must marvel at the incredible work done by Lillian, Xin, and Connor to create the city of Generica. (Connor? Yes. News about Connor very soon.)

Awesome. Have a schmucker!

I look forward to a Middle Erf fanfic. I vote for GrandAlf the Gay.

It's been a couple years, and I only ever wrote the introductory chapter, but there's a bit of Middle Erf available to read. I just reviewed it to see how it holds up to new canon and other than my interpretation of Western Giants as cowboys it seems to be holding up alright.

I went with Gamdalf as name for Legolas, though, as a legs pun. I didn't name the barbarian caster they would have run into later, but I was leaning toward a Santa-like Myth Reindeer.
I really want this side to have a Mathamancer named "ABTesting" and a Shockamancer named "AutoPlayAd"

Also seems to me that being a signamancer based side, they can get a competitive advantage over other sides through the effective use of Contracts and overvalued goods. If everything in the city has a price tag, then schmucker based contracts can be paid off with goods around the city.

Makes me hope there is a Stuffamancer named "tchotchke"

We've already seen Units by that name. Not that we couldn't eventually have a character by that name, but I don't think the pun would have as much of an impact since it already exists in the story.

Speaking of tchotchkes and new characters, I'd find it funny if there was a Dollamancer that looked like a Precious Moments figurine, and made dolls of a similar style.

Why is "ABTesting" an Mathamancer ? AB Testing doesn't involve math or algorithms as far as I know.

It seems more relevant to a Signamancer (as they handle design) or a Dittomancer.

A/B tests are a form of null hypothesis testing. Null hypothesis testing requires statistics to design and run. Statistics is math.

Otherwise, how else are you going to quantify your significance levels and figure out whether your 'treatment' (e.g. cancer drug, new webpage design) is 'effective' ("statistically significant") or not? Just eyeball it by seeing the numbers?

I suppose if you look at it from the perspective of the 'treatment creator' (e.g. biochemists for drugs, web designers for landing pages) or the 'guinea pigs' (patients/users) then it might not seem to require much math, but actually running the A/B test (and designing it properly) requires someone with some degree of background in statistics (not necessary a mathematician, but even people taking data/web analytics courses will have to learn statistics and acquire an intuitive understanding of some common statistical tests), hence Mathamancer.

It was my own job-related bias at work, I heard A/B Testing and my mind went to A/B testing designs for sites and app thus the signamancer comment, yes the interpreting of the results is the most important but from my own limited perspective A/B testing's main effort is doing the multiple designs and then interpreting the data is done intuitively which design has more clicks in google analytics.

There is precedent for a character sharing their name with a unit type. See one Vinny Doombats.

Interesting that you bring up Brother Labeler, in that story Jillian remarked how sides with Signamancers had the best looking cities, with that in mind I think we can agree she never laid eyes on Generica during her whole mercenary career

Or she liked the way Generica looks. Will her crimes never cease?!?!
De-lurking just to say:

"This is Generica, look what they're whippin up"

Al Gore Rhythm would be a good name for a Generican mathamancer. He'd be the epytomy of coolness with his ice cold beats (That or, "Al Gore's Rhythm" would be the name of Alfreddo Gore's rhyme book).

The Al would be short for "AlFreddo".

...

And now to sigh about everyone missing your multilinguial pun for them only seeing the referential layers.

and yes I have been saving that name for a while.
Spoiler: show
I mean really guys, I've been looking at this forums Al Gore puns, and none of you tried to utilise the fact that his name literally means coldness (in latin) into his signamancy!
