Actually, most things in Erfworld seem to have a dual signamancy, now that you mention it. Even Judy Gale referenced both an actress and the part she played.

That's been apparent since the beginning. Gwiffons, for example. Jillions of Muscles being loved by Jack Snipe (who started the story messed up in the head, or with a broken crown). Turnamancy being used for actual Turns, and for wheeled items. The rock golems being made of hard/soft/acid stones, but also looking like a representation of that kind of music. Crap Goems being made from crap, and probably pretty crap in combat. Stanley has the Arkin' Arkenhammer, and Stanley is one of the most iconic makers of hammers. The whole comic is pun based word play and double meanings.

I'm ashamed to admit I hadn't noticed the Jillian pun.
Interest that she changed her name to that. An attempt to influence her own signomancy?

If there is something there besides "Jack and Jill went up the hill...", I'm afraid I have to confess ignorance of it. Of course, there are a whole lot of puns I didn't get, just on the basis of the author's interests not lining up exactly with mine. For instance, I had no idea what anyone was talking about with "the three beans", because, not being great with names, I had never heard of the actor.

I'm not convinced she changed it. The only to call her Banhammer I'm pretty sure was her father, and that could have been him denying the sword-swinger in her by not calling her by name.

She has referred to herself as Jillian Banhammer once. Charlie's contract also refers to her as Queen Jillian Banhammer with an AKA to the Zammusels. And yet Albert is Zammusels rather than Banhammer.

I've been wondering what that's about. With Faq no longer a secret, it's not like she needs an alias any more. A rejection of her father is the most likely possibility. It may also be a side effect of losing the Jester, which among other things somehow symbolized her connection to him.

Albert gives a mental shrug and says "Albert... Zamussels, I guess." Like he was just learning his last name by her telling him.

Possibly it's a name that she used when doing mercenary work, so as not to remind anybody of her connection to Banhammer/FAQ which was trying to stay hidden.

Of course, since she was doing mercenary work as soon as she was popped, and spent much more time in the field than at home, that name would feel much more natural to her than Banhammer.

So when Natural Signamancy generates a name for her son... well, the new FAQ is very much a Zamussels side and not a Banhammer side.
