It looks like this opportunity is now closed, at least for the time being. The continued presence of armed forces in the magic kingdom serves to alienate GK among all caster types; only a few individuals with a vested interest in GK or against Charlie continue to support GK. There was a window when maybe this would have worked; send Maggie or Sizemore in immediately after book 1 and you could have hired a lot of people at a time when GK had unlimited funds and no expenses. Now, every caster type has closed ranks in opposition to them.

That's why Digdoug would probably be interested to join GK: He hates Charlie and he is crap poor. He might be more likely than Dove - though GK already has one Dirtamancer, so there's that.

The casters at the long walk are there because their services are so little valued that they can't sell them for the amount it costs to eat that day.

Flipping this around, sides don't value these casters enough to pay them to eat in exchange for their services. If they're not seen as valuable at all, they're not valuable enough to keep indefinitely.

Why they're not valuable is an interesting question, but maybe it has several answers.

I will add one reason of my own thinking: There is an excessive number of Casters in Erfworld. Casters are units with a high upkeep and most sides just cant afford more than two or three Casters. And a side has no control about which type of Commanding Unit (Warlord/Caster) gets popped.

So, probably a lot of Casters ends up going barbarian to avoid being traded or disbanded.

Do you really think so? Have we seen any evidence or examples of this?

If there's a surplus of casters in Erfworld, it seems to be because they are the only units who have a safe place to go to survive the ends of their sides. And sides seem to end a lot.

Point of order; while very rare, Feral Casters just popping in the wild are possible.
Example: Wiki: Tisha

Yes, I really think so. And... no, there is not evidence. Just specullation.

That´s a better point than mine. I concur.

Excuse my ignorance, but from what story was the Biography on Trish extracted? I thought I had read all of the story, I don't remember her backstory backerstory.

According to the wiki, all this info on Tish came from book 1. Like, the actual phisical book.
Yeah, there was some bonus material in the physical book. Mostly just bios for the Great Minds, I think. That's where the names, stats and histories came from.

Makes me really want Trem to meet Parson. Learning about Stupidworld would blow his mind.
