Or they find the concept utterly meaningless. Y'know, whichever.
Basically, it's a way of saying "put your [virtual] money where your [virtual] mouth is".

It's very convenient to have no one keeping score when you're a bullshitter.

If you subscribe to the 'utterly meaningless' concept, then it's not 'convenient'. It's still utterly meaningless.

"Oh, you were wrong." "Yep, I sure was."
vs.
"Oh, you were wrong and you lost the imaginary bet." "Yep, I sure was."

Personally I'm in the 'utterly meaningless' camp.

I like that people have fun with it, though.
The thing is, with no one keeping score, the 'yup, I sure was' in the first pair is missing. Predictions come, are forgotten, and then fail, and no one calls them on it.
They're in text on the internet, they aren't likely to be going anywhere. Unless you have some ridiculously large post on the first page of the betting thread with every active prediction on the entire forum, they aren't any less likely to be forgotten because there are imaginary points tied to them.
Well, we DO keep a massive post of all the predictions that have points on them, but we don't of the predictions that don't. I suppose we could track the predictions without keeping score, but that would make it less attractive as a game.

I've been considering making a dummy player that offers a bet whenever Oslecamo_temp makes a prediction, though, since few others make that many confident predictions without betting on it. So we're almost there anyway.
Well, alright then, that'll do it. I haven't payed any attention to your game so I didn't know. And sorry for my language being imprecise, I did mean just the ones with bets.

I will voice a strong objection to forcing people to play by proxy.
I'm ready for the next main story update.

... somehow, I dropped my agreeing with you from that post. Note that I haven't done it.

And yeah, I'm really ready for an update. And an explanation.
