Isn't she only popping an heir because of the RC?

So? Doesn't mean she'll stay home once the heir pops.
I'm just trying to deflect some judgement from my main man Stanley. ;)

I suppose most of it comes from him being on Parson's side. Still, Stanley would be like a less angsty Jillian if he'd be allowed to go out and fight again.

I hope we get an update in Stanley's head about why he's never appointed/popped an heir before. It could have something to do with what happened to Saline.

Jill probably plans on making her heir stay home, rather than stepping down to "don't die" position. Which, honestly, is fine.

Actually it isn't fine. That would be very poor tactics. Because if she does this then if/when Jillian finally croaks FAQ is left with a level 1 ruler. You really need to get your heir out in the field to level up.

The Ruler is only useful if it is useful. If it's a stay at home ruler, it's more important to have a high level CWL. Which in Duncan, they are in pretty good shape. Jetstone was pretty powerful, but Slately was garbage. Parson kicked his ass, and he was only level two or three.
Problem with that theory. Jillian already told Duncan that he is only going to be CWL until the heir pops. She has already to decided to promote her heir over Duncan otherwise why would she tell him that? Besides, a royal heir should end up having better stats than Duncan once they are equal in level. Duncan will most likely become a chief adviser to Jillian at home or to the heir in the field.
I do not remember her saying that. Citation?

Duncan said it to her, and she didn't contradict him. That might make it true, or it might make it something traditional that Duncan expects and which she couldn't be bothered to argue about right at that moment, since she was definitely distracted at the time by the idea that she was under Charlie's Thinkamancy.

"We will need the money, Queen. We will have the upkeep of the heir soon. My replacement," he said. "And I consider it my primary Duty to preserve the side until he or she pops. We don't have that many turns to go. You'd make my job easier and more pleasant if we could only play it reasonably safe until then."
Probably asked and answered, but in Book 2 the Archons mention Charlie gives a +5 bonus when he's commanding a battle. Does this only apply to his own side or did it play a role in this fight because of the Link?
I don't think we know for sure. Obviously Charlie helped Vanna in the casting, he was linked, but I don't think we know for sure whether his bonus applied to the newly-turned hobgobwins, whether he counted as commanding the battle, whether he was linked etc.
