The word "Baffle" is also used for a type of barrier in English. Baffles are usually hard to penetrate but do not cover the entire passage. They may however overlap so that there is no straight-line path past them. That would fit well with casting it near a unit you want to protect.

Example of use, "sound baffle" for a sheet of sound-blocking material that hangs from the ceiling and reduces noise:

Example of use, "water baffle" for barriers perpendicular to the general flow that stop the water from flowing straight towards the drain:

Example of use, "baffle window system" for windows of bullet resistant glass placed with one in front of the other and slightly overlapping, permitting sound to pass but protecting what is inside from gunshots:

I don't think Jack literally created hard barriers in front of Parson but the "barrier" meaning of the word is still probably relevant.
Maybe the emphasis on "clothing" simply means the spell was attached to the clothing to allow it to be carried through the portal. Maybe?

There was a close up of the omega marked necklace. I'm guessing that detail was intended to be analyzed.

It looks more like a small continuity error to me...

The Omega could also be Marie's hatpin. If that's the Predictamancer group symbol, very relevant to the current page and plot happenings.

Maybe, but everything about it but the Omega suggests a close shot of Maggie's neck: what looks like a string that holds it, the position of the string and the pendant, the shading of the background...

Alternative possibility: If Charlie can't disband Parson, then he needs Parson to step through the portal and be killed on that side. The problem with this is that the guns on L40 aren't needed to kill Parson. It's overkill and an idiot ball solution.

The overkill guns are probably there because of the portal being Carnymanced into letting non-caster units through -- either as a side effect of Shockamancy power siphoning, or as an intended feature to allow for the possibility of an Archon invasion of the MK.

The guns were put there specifically to fire at Parson's group in the MK through the portal according to this update. They are a last resort option.

If Parson comes through, I would think that the Archons themselves have enough firepower just with their personal weapons and their own natural shockamancy to deal with Parson. But what we see in page 113 is that the archons take the initiative once leadership is cut off, and man the tripods, too. So L40 is filled with archons with itchy trigger fingers grabbing every weapon available to them in a nasty, fog-of-war situation.

So I guess I am amending my original hypothesis here. If they open up with the tripods, it's not an Idiot Ball solution after all because it isn't what Charlie intended to happen: it's a fog-of-war and/or leadership error which is perfectly reasonable as a plot point. Charlie may still have "capture" as the primary order, but in the confusion on L40 mistakes are still possible even if Charlie has alerted them about Parson coming through as a CC unit. Especially if Jack's baffle causes just enough confusion that even one archon slips up.
I think charlie's plan is to have his archons on lvl 40 off parson after he comes through. Everybody would just assume charlie had parson in a room somewhere working on plans for him. Just think of the business pitch he could do, "I can sell you battle plans for x amount or a battle plan made by the perfect warlord for 4x amount." When in reality he's gotten rid of parson and added another layer of supposed invincibility to his image.

No it couldn't. It is shown on a string and is pretty clearly a necklace. I think it is a sign that Maggie no longer properly Thinks Alike and has, through her philosophies and her sharing information with Parson, inadvertently joined Marie's group, who I will currently call The Last Warriors. The omega being the last, maybe they are the believers in the last war on Erf.

It must have happened while she was a guardian angel:

Or maybe while she has been unconscious. If Jack says she will remember everything that is happening now (everything? Tee-hee! Oh, all that groping  ), maybe she can also switch allegiances.
You have Ned Stark, Boromir, Alec Trevelyan 006, and Isaac from the Binding of Isaac in that reaction panel: These are all plot sacrifice characters: Boromir sacrifices himself to protect Frodo after his folly of trying to take the One Ring. Ned Stark sacrifices his life and honor to try and protect his family after trying to expose a plot. Alec Travelyan is a plot sacrifice who is believed to die at the beginning of 007: GoldenEye for the sake of his mission. Isaac is literally a biblical reference to human sacrifice let alone that the character in the game is meant to be sacrificed by his own mother in the name of God.

I think it's pretty clear that these characters' futures are rather grim...
Nice shout out to Edmund McMillen! Isaac the caster, yeah!
