Prologue - 010

Turns since TBfGK: 3

"I think it's time to pack it in," said Parson.

Sizemore was still eyeing Maggie with cautious concern, but she seemed alert. Even chipper. "Indeed, Lord," she said, "if ever there was a sign." She stood, and picked up her helm.

Parson stood up as well. He didn't have much of a problem with heights, and he had been enjoying the view up until that moment. But the couple of additional feet between sitting and standing seemed like two hundred. "Whoa," he laughed, and gripped the trebuchet. He took a couple of breaths and looked around. "My plan may have to be scrapped."

Maggie had stepped over to the side of the tower and was emptying her helmet over the side of the wall...presumably not on anyone below. Parson watched her shake out the contents. "If Bogroll was still around, he'd be standing down below for some reason."

Sizemore was now packing up the basket. He looked over at Maggie and nodded, but didn't smile. "Too true," he said, a little wistfully. "What plan, Warlord?"

Parson, still leaning on the trebuchet for balance, pointed squarely at one of the passing dwagons.

"To ride one of those."

Sizemore looked at the gliding dwagon, then at Parson, his eyebrows in a doubtful arch. "Yes. I'd say so."

"C'maaaan," said Parson, leaping to the defense of his bad idea. "Why not? Thissis a fact-finding outing."

Sizemore seemed to be getting cranky. "The turn's over," he said, with a little scowl. "And if you're really a garrison unit, you couldn't leave the city on a mount anyway."

Maggie walked up, holding her empty helmet. She picked up a napkin and covered it, and inserted it into the picnic basket.

"Yeah, but I should still be able to get on a mount, right?"

"Ummmm. Not if you're a heavy unit. Which...I think is likely."

"Well I wanna find out," said Parson. He took three unsteady steps in the direction of the tower's edge, looking up into the sky. "I'm talking about heading back to the garrison in style. Just back over to the tower." He eyed the flying beasts and grinned nervously. It was like looking at a brand new roller coaster at Cedar Point. "What, you wanna walk?"

"Warlord. You can't do it."

"Weeee...try things," Parson said, pounding an air podium. "Right, Maggie?"

She smiled weakly. "Sometimes they even work."

i'm not sure we'll ever see parson mounting an archon....

Honestly, I think that Parson's low charisma modifier would be more of a problem with that.

I dont know rules but if someone has enaugh charisma can that person mount an archon? ahahah maybe ansom can? god its 05,15am here and look what im talking about.

You assume the DnD rules apply to Erfworld. But there is world of rules beyond DnD. ;)
And if Stanley can mount a dwagon, charisma should be no problem.
@lorddarksea
i forgat that
@Welf von Ehrwald
yes you are right but im not just saying dnd rules, i dont learn erfworld rules too. cant keep all rules in my mind. only like its story rules, system i have my own problem :P

well sorry for saying this but i agree with parson.
i wanna ride one of those archons...

Is that a Freudian slip there?

We don't know if Parson has a "heavy" attribute. Parson may look heavy, and he may mass the same as a twoll, but Charlie though three archons were enough to lift him when he offered Parson a way out.

I don't think it's a weight thing. Assume Parson weighs 500 pounds and the dragon can carry 600. But because Parson is classed heavy, the dragon can't fly with him on its back. Archon's obviously don't have the same weight capacity as a dragon, but since Parson won't ride the archons they can just combine their strength to carry.

In other words, the dragon can probably pick up Parson with its claws or teeth and carry Parson wherever; Parson just can't RIDE the dragon.

That's precisely why my first point was mentioning that, weight aside, we don't know that Parson has a "heavy" attribute. I said, in fact, that even if he weighs the same as a twoll it doesn't mean that the game considers him a heavy.
ohh, I misread your post. *blush*
i'm inclined to believe a heavy unit would have a high damage tolerance, high strength and high combat with low move and low agility.

if parsons earthlike stats were used, he'd certainly be the last two

we will have to wait untill 3rd or 5th act of season 2 before we see parson in combat again

That's the traditional approach to balancing a unit; we could look at the various tabletop games to get an idea of the variations on this theme.

Maybe we'll see him sparring or training. It's too bad he's unlikely to visit the Magic Kingdom again, but maybe he'll ask to meet with other casters, such as Janis.

Speaking of casters, I wonder what he and Jack Snipe will have to talk about.

Ooooh, great question! I can't believe I forgot about our resident foolamancer... Great detail catch, DevilDan.
